Kids VS Brushing Teeth

“Dental caries is a process – you don’t just wake up one day with a cavity.”

Getting your kids brushing their teeth correctly is important for good oral hygiene.

Start to cultivate good oral habit since they are young.

A good starting place is making sure your child has all of the right equipment:
·       A small-sized, soft bristle toothbrush
·       Children’s toothpaste-flavour
·       Flavored mouthwash (depending on your child’s age and preference)
·       Mirror which is same height with your kids

Modeling good behavior is one of the best ways to get your kids excited about brushing their teeth. Be happy when you brush your teeth.  If you make it look like fun, the kids will want to do it too.

Have your child brush their favorite doll's  teeth before you brush theirs. Remember to routinely give them the opportunity to brush their own teeth and then follow up by brushing their teeth correctly.

Making sure children brush in a circular motion rather than sweeping the bristles across their teeth is the key piece to this whole process.

Perhaps a timer set to 2 minutes helps them focus on the task at hand.

Give younger children a toothbrush as a toy.

Don't forget to praise, praise, and praise your

kids for their awesome brushing.
