Want to stay healthy? Let's breathe with our nose!

A lot of emphasis has been given to proper breathing. You may have already know that breathing through the nose is the key. Nose breathing can improve our blood circulation and reduce stress. Now then, how do we know if we are breathing properly through our nose?

Here's a simple way we can exercise breathing through the nose:

1. Place your hand on your belly and other hand on your upper chest. Feel that the chest remains still with each breath while the belly moves slightly in and out.

2. Breathe in and out through the nose while the mouth is closed. Try to focus on the cold and fresh air entering your nose and a bit warmer air leaving when exhaled.

3. Gradually reduce the volume of each breaths until you get a sensation of no longer breathing (breath becomes very quiet). When you have develop a slight hunger for air, that means the blood has slight accumulation of carbon dioxide. This will signal the brain to breathe.

4. Take small amount of air in and out through your nose. Hold your breath for 5 seconds then release and continue breathing.

5. Breathe normally for 10 seconds. Do a few more times.


Remember, tongue up! lips close! breathe through your nose!
