“Why do my children get tooth decayed though they brush their teeth everyday?”
This is a common question asked by many concerned parents. These responsible parents had done their best to make sure their children exercise proper oral hygiene yet the ‘devil decay’ creeps in.
No matter how good you clean those back teeth, it is a common site for decay in children’s teeth. If a tooth is heading down towards a cavity we want to get to it as early as possible.
Thus, the strategy is to seal these deep grooves to prevent decay. Damage detected early will allows us to clean the groove out and seal it up before there’s a cavity.
Introducing our topic, FISSURE SEALANT
What is that?
Fissure sealants are plastic coatings that are painted on to the grooves of the back teeth.
How it works?

Application of fissure sealant
How long does fissure sealant last?
Sealant usually last for many years, but it can wear over time, and sometimes needs to be added to or replaced to be sure that no decay can start underneath it.
